Grantee Selection

The restaurant industry is notorious for low wages, poor job mobility, high turnover, and burnout. Structural and cultural issues within the industry decrease quality-of-life and make long term work in the industry unsustainable for many. For those reasons, RWCF’s program areas for grantmaking, advocacy and impact investing are:

  • Wage Fairness and Career Ladders

  • Gender Equity and Sexual Violence

  • Racial Equity and Support for the Immigrant Community

  • Mental Health and Substance Abuse

During this unprecedented time of crisis, RWCF is awarding grants to nonprofits that are well positioned to provide restaurant workers:

  • food assistance

  • housing assistance

  • mental health and emergency healthcare

  • pro bono legal services

  • other vital emergency provisions

A quarter of money raised through RWCF's Restaurant Workers COVID19 Emergency Relief Fund will go toward nonprofits providing these kinds of crisis services.
